Ju-Jitsu is a martial arts that concentrates on technique rather than brute force. Although Ju-Jitsu was developed in medieval Japan, the martial art has gained great popularity amongst the police and armed forces as a practical form of self defence to meet the needs of today's society.

Ju-Jitsu skills can be applied by men, women and children to counter aggressive situations ranging from harassment to armed physical assault. The nucleus of the art is made up a system of throws, joint locks and strikes based on the principal of using an aggressor's negative energy to their own disadvantage.

Onna Ju-Jitsu Club has been established since 2000 and has become one of Yorkshire's most successful organisations with over 600 students training in Bradford and surrounding districts. We are a diverse and friendly club and welcome anyone who wishes to learn the art of Ju-Jitsu in a fun, safe and friendly environment. Our success, as a club, is due to the supportive and fun atmosphere we create in our classes to help students reach their full potential.

The club adopts an Equal Opportunities policy and all students irrespective of race, colour, religion, disability, age, gender, social status or sexual orientation are welcome at the club.

The club's ethos is bringing the community together through activities ranging from Ju-Jitsu, organised walks (Onna Walks), teaching people to ride a bike/develop cycling skills (Onna Bike) and school holiday playschemes. Onna Ju-Jitsu Club has been nominated on two occasions for the Bradford Community Harmony Awards recognising the work it undertakes to bridge gaps within the community. The club's Senior Club Coach, Sensei Mumtaz Khan, MSc (hons), also has won the acclaimed Bradford Inspirational Women's Award in Sport (2014) and Active Bradford's Sports Coach of the Year Award (2015). Onna Ju-Jitsu Club beat over 3000 other club's to win Sport England's Satellite Club of the Year Award 2014 and Onna Bike was recently awarded joint Best Community Project by Cycling UK (2016).
