Gradings are conducted 3 times a year and occur primarily in March/April, July and December to coincide with the main school holidays. Gradings are conducted by Club Officials at St Bede's & St Joseph's Catholic College, Highgate, Bradford, BD9 5QA. Certificates and belts are presented at these formal events increasing students confidence / esteem and provide a networking opportunity to make new friends.

The order of the belts are: White, Yellow, Orange, Green, Blue/White, Blue, Purple, Brown/White, Brown and Black belt.

Black belt and Gold Tab gradings also take place at St Bede's & St Joseph's Catholic College.

Once a student reaches Shodan (First degree black belt) they are able to progress further. Seniors follow the dan grade system e.g. Nidan, Shodan, Sandan, Yondan, Godan etc and Juniors follow the Gold Tab system until they reach the age of adulthood when they transfer on to the Senior training path.

Onna Ju-Jitsu Club provides a structured approach to learning enabling students to progress by through use of a syllabus and belt system. The ONNA Syllabus consists of both Junior and Senior syllabuses depending on the age and ability of student. Generally if a student is under the age of 16 years they are considered to be a Junior, however the coach has discretion on the actual syllabus taught after assessing the student's ability and considering group dynamics.
